Robert Vorstman & Niels Smits van BurgstAmsterdam - Rotterdam box

The Amsterdam-Rotterdambox is the final ART-on-a-BOX container. Amsterdam artist Robert Vorstman and Rotterdam artist Niels Smits van Burgst painted their box during the nautical event SAIL 2010. This event takes place every 5 years and attracts more than 1,5 million visitors from all over the Netherlands and abroad. For this project Vorstman and Smits van Burgst have been working closely together on the Amsterdam-Rotterdam container. The ports were painted as such allowing them to ‘blend’ into one another. Today the ports are working together at different levels.
Robert Vorstman has a maritime background. Having sailed professionally for some time, however, Robert discovered he was more passionate about the painting world.
The subjects painted by Niels Smits van Burgst range from horse riding treks to meetings. These paintings are based on amateur photos that he finds on the internet.
